Every year South Glengarry recognize people who have provided outstanding contributions to their community. In 2024 Bruce Munro a ’70 Kemptville grad, was presented with the Excellence in Agriculture award for his outstanding business management in improving the agricultural industry and helping to better South Glengarry. From starting as a farm supply store to a certified team to assist in crop advisory and management, Munro Agromart , located in Lancaster, continues to help local farmers to grow their best crops. He developed a micro-nutrient blending fertilizer program and developed custom spray applications that would benefit individual farms. In the time of trouble, Bruce would quickly supply equipment or what ever was needed. When the Kemptville College Alumni were having their raffles at the College Royal to raise money to print “The Contact” we could always count on him to donate very large bags of grass seed.

This year Mackie Robertson a ’67 Kemptville grad, was presented with the Citizen of the Year Award for his outstanding efforts within the community. There seems to be no end to Mackie’s abilities, from creating custom woodwork pieces for the Bishop’s House in Alexandria, to historical presentations and becoming a lay minister. He has served on multiple boards and organizations. Mackie believes honest, hardworking people who choose to become leaders are what make Canada strong. He believes that the legacy of volunteerism was set before him, by people who have helped someone else along the way , and he is furthering that legacy.

Those of you who have admired the beautiful display cabinets, year book holders and guest sign in table in the Historical Building are seeing his excellent custom woodwork. He also donated wooden clothes tree stands to our raffles at the College Royal in order for the Kemptville College Alumni to print “The Contact”.

Bruce and Mackie, your fellow grads are proud of what you have contributed to South Glengarry and the Kemptville College Alumni. Thank you!
